My whole family went on a vacation to the Big Island the week before Christmas. It was amazing! My favorite thing was the scuba dive we went on. First, we were driving to the spot and we ran into a huge pod of dolphins. The boat was small with a square front, so Matt and I laid on the front and we were able to reach down and touch the dolphins, it was so cool. Then on the dive we saw about 12 sea turtles, 2 reef sharks, about 4-5 feet long, and an eagle ray! Plus it had tons of cool caverns to swim through. Needless to say, it was the best dive I have ever been on. We also went on a cool Helicopter ride over the steep rain forest valleys with gorgeous waterfalls. Then while we were flying along the coast we saw a huge whale that surfaced several times. We also went on some little hikes to amazing waterfalls and spent a day in Volcano National Park. There weren't any live lava flows, but we stayed till dark and got to see the red grow coming out of the Kilauea Iki crater. It was really cool. Our resort was amazing as well, you could snorkel and see sea turtles from the beach and they had the most amazing breakfasts, we never ate lunch. Thanks Mama and Papa D!
