I Can't Believe This ...
I don't know how many of you have read about two recent stories in the news but they have both really hit me hard.
The first just happened yesterday in California where a man entered an LDS chapel, asked for the Bishop, waited outside as he interviewed others, then went in and shot and killed him. He later called police and told them he was the shooter, then was shot in a confrontation with police. The man hasn't been identified, but people say he wasn't a member of the church and it looks like the Bishop didn't know him.
Witnesses are saying that the man went hours before to the chapel, agitated, asking for anyone in charge, then came back later and shot the Bishop. It looks like the man was mad at the church and went in to shoot the nearest Bishop. I honestly can't believe things like this happen. Are church buildings soon going to need some type of security as you enter? The Bishop was a father of six boys, the youngest six months old. Here is the Des News story:
The other story is of a man in Vegas suing the church after his back hurt the day after going with a youth group to perform baptisms. He claims the church failed to warn him "the repetitive motion required for performing baptisms for the dead could cause serious damage to a person's back …," and that some of the youth weighed over 250 pounds. He also said that the officiator wouldn't let him stop doing baptisms. Are you kidding me? Maybe the officiator asked him to do a few more baptisms than he wanted to, but they always rotate them out pretty well. No one was forcing him to do more baptisms, he could have walked out whenever he needed to. Its not like he slipped or their was a specific incident that was the church's fault.
I guess what is done is done though and if this guys back is hurt after doing baptisms maybe the church could help with medical costs. But no, this guy isn't stopping at medical costs, he was going to law school and claims that he can't go anymore and is suing for loss of employment! I just interviewed a quadriplegic going to law school on the Mormon Channel, and this guy is suing the church? Unbelievable. Are we going to need a disclaimer sign as you enter the font? Here is the story.
